Two glass negatives, numbered 3283 and 3284, record this wide view of the Harvard Medical College buildings in Boston, which were joined into one panorama. The Detroit Publishing Company, a commercial firm known for its scenic and architectural views, made the plates sometime between 1900 and 1910, when Harvard's medical school was a major center of American medical training. Panoramas like this one, built from two 8 x 10 inch plates, show how large an institutional campus looked to visitors of that period, when a single camera setup could not capture the full facade.
