Mammoth Hot Springs, at the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, is the setting here, with automobiles parked at the public auto camp set aside for motorists. By the 1920s, private cars had become a common way to reach the park, which had opened its roads to them after 1915 instead of relying on horse-drawn stages and rail-connected tours. The copyright notice names Haynes, the studio of photographer F. Jay Haynes, which sold views of the park's scenery to visitors. The c1920 date and other caption details come from an old card and have not been independently verified.
