The caption card names the Big Room at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina, a resort hotel on Sunset Mountain above the town, known for its large stone-and-timber public spaces. The record dates the print to August 1908, but the inn did not open until 1913, so that date should be checked against other sources. The attribution to Lewis Hine rests on the print's provenance, and it comes from an album of his work, which is worth keeping in mind when reading the image.
