Few horse pictures on this board are made the way this one is: a relief print pulled from a perforated plate, with the pierced openings shaping the image itself. Alena Kucerová, born in 1935, made it in 1972, and the impression is numbered 25 out of an edition of 30 and signed and dated in pencil by hand. The print entered the Library of Congress collection through the Pennell Fund, which supports the acquisition of prints. Because the title is only a bracketed "Horse," the image relies on its technique and its subject to hold attention, and the perforations are worth studying closely.
