Edgardo Simone appears in this glass negative alongside General John J. Pershing, though the title comes from unverified data written on the negative or its sleeve, so the pairing deserves some caution. Pershing was best known as commander of the American Expeditionary Forces in France during World War I, and the National Photo Company, a Washington studio active in the early twentieth century, recorded many public figures of that era. The 4 by 5 inch plate shows streaks and blemishes from natural deterioration of its original coatings.
