Lead by "An education for you," this 1919 color lithograph pitches the Army's Tank Corps as a place to learn a trade rather than only a place to fight. Lt. J.P. Wharton of the Tank Corps designed it, and the Engineer Reproduction Plant at Washington Barracks, D.C., printed it. The date places it after the Armistice, when the Army still needed recruits for its new mechanized branch. The Tank Corps was created in 1917 and was short-lived, so the poster captures a brief moment when recruiters were selling mechanical training to young men as much as military service.
