Few recruiting posters from the First World War name specific trades as directly as this one. It asks electricians, mechanics and telegraph operators to join the U.S. Army Signal Corps, and it promises training to anyone who lacks those skills. The Signal Corps ran the wire telephone, telegraph and early radio networks that linked commanders to troops, so it needed technically trained men. Brooklyn's Latham Litho & Printing Co. produced the lithograph sometime between 1917 and 1920, during the wartime drive for volunteers after the United States entered the war in April 1917.
