The Yumurí Valley, a deep green gorge cut by the Yumurí River near the city of Matanzas on Cuba's north coast, is the subject here. The Cuban Tourist Commission, which promoted the island to visitors in the 1950s, is credited with the print, which is dated only tentatively to about 1954. Views like this one were part of a wider effort to present Cuba's landscapes to travelers, many of them from the United States, who visited the island in that period.
