Van Duzer's Fruit Extracts is a tall, narrow color poster, about 2.1 meters high, printed in 1886 by Strobridge & Co. of Cincinnati. Strobridge was one of the busiest commercial lithography firms in the United States in the late nineteenth century, producing bold posters, trade cards and theater bills. Flavoring extracts such as lemon and vanilla were common in home kitchens of the period, and advertisements like this one used large type and strong color to draw buyers' eyes in crowded stores. The record's details come from an older caption card and have not been independently verified.
