The name on this negative's sleeve is Elizabeth Zolnay, though the Library of Congress notes that the title comes from unverified data supplied by the National Photo Company, so her identity is not fully confirmed. The date, around 1923, is inferred from neighboring negatives in the same range. The National Photo Company was a Washington, D.C., studio that produced a large body of portraits and street scenes in the early twentieth century, and its glass negatives were later donated to the Library of Congress. The glass has aged, and the record warns of streaks and blemishes in the original coating, so the image may appear hazier than it did when first printed.
