The White Hart Hotel stands in Sonning-on-Thames, a village on the river in Berkshire, and this photochrom shows it as a traveler on the riverside road would have seen it in the 1890s. Photochrom was a color process that reproduced photographs as lithographic prints, and the Detroit Publishing Co. issued it in the United States under its *Views of England* series. Its catalog number and 1905 catalog date show how these views were sold to American buyers as travel souvenirs. The inn's age and village setting make it a useful record of the Thames towns that drew boating visitors in the late Victorian period.
