The street name in the title has no connection to the Freemasons on this board. The real subject is a San Francisco grammar school recorded in a view published around 1866. The Library holds only one half of a stereographic pair, a format meant to be viewed through a stereoscope to create a sense of depth. The caption ties it to number 340 in the Gems of California scenery series, albumen views sold to a wide parlor audience, though the card's details are unverified.
