The title places this view at Walter Reed, the Army hospital in Washington, D.C., on December 11, 1920, though the subject, Feri, is not identified beyond that name. The date comes from notes the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve and has not been independently verified. The Washington firm produced a large body of glass negatives recording the city, its institutions and daily life in the early twentieth century. Look for the streaks and blemishes on the glass, which come from deterioration of the original coatings rather than from the scene itself.
