At the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis, the Filipino Scouts marched through the fairgrounds' Plaza as part of the wider Philippine exhibits, which drew large crowds to the fair. The stereo card was copyrighted by C.H. Graves, and its two near-identical images, viewed through a stereoscope, gave fairgoers and armchair viewers a sense of depth and movement. Such cards were a popular way to bring distant exhibitions home, and this one records how the exposition presented the Philippines to American audiences.
