A draftsman sits at a grid of cords and a frame, copying a reclining nude through a net of threads, which makes this one of the clearest records of an artist's working method. Albrecht Dürer made the woodcut around 1525 for his treatise on measurement, *Underweysung der Messung*, which taught artists to render the human body through geometry and perspective devices. This copy is a 1965 photomechanical reproduction from a book of Dürer's complete engravings, etchings and woodcuts, so its fine contour lines reflect the original block.
