Dated October 8, 1923, this glass negative is catalogued under the title "Jos. Haller group," though the Library of Congress notes that the name came from unverified information written on the negative or its sleeve. The image belongs to the National Photo Company Collection, a body of work from a Washington, D.C., commercial studio that documented people, events, and street life in the city during the early twentieth century. The collection was given to the Library by Herbert A. French in 1947. Viewers may notice streaks and blemishes, which are typical of glass plates as their original coatings deteriorated over time.
