The Turkey Red cabinets, catalogued as T3, are a 1911 series of chromolithographs issued by the American Tobacco Company, and their name likely comes from the Turkey Red tobacco brand the company sold. The cards were meant to attract buyers to those products. Each print was made by chromolithography, a color process that uses inked stones, and then finished by hand, which added depth and variation to the printed colors. This example belongs to the Benjamin K. Edwards Collection of baseball cards at the Library of Congress, and the title was devised by Library staff rather than printed on the card itself.
