Airplanes sit on an airfield in the foreground, with a cluster of buildings and mountains rising behind them, a combination that sets this reproduction apart from the many other aviation views on the board. The print reproduces a work by Georgian artists and was issued in Moscow in 1963 by Sovetskii Khudozhnik, a state-linked Soviet art publisher, with its caption in Russian. Its mountain backdrop points to the Caucasus region of the Soviet Union, and the subject reflects the postwar fascination with air travel and modern infrastructure that appeared often in Soviet visual culture of the 1960s.
