The slogan "Front und Heimat, die Garanten des Sieges" ("Front and home front, the guarantors of victory") sets this poster apart by casting soldiers at the front and civilians at home as equal partners in the war effort. It was signed with the pseudonym Mjölnir, used by Hans Schweitzer, one of the most prolific graphic designers working for the Nazi state. Posters like this were produced in large runs during the final years of the Second World War, when the regime depended on propaganda to sustain morale and labor on the home front. Its swastika imagery and call to collective sacrifice make it a useful document of how the regime presented total war to the German public.
