The Sunny South" is a fruit label whose name alone suggests the warm growing regions that northern markets relied on for citrus and other produce. Chromolithography, which built up color from a separate stone for each hue, let The Graphic Company of New York turn out bright, detailed labels that could be pasted onto crates and boxes. Labels like this helped a shipper's fruit stand out on crowded railway platforms and grocers' shelves. The copyright notation in the record suggests the design was registered to protect it from imitation.
