A bird's-eye perspective of the Pan-American Exposition, which ran in Buffalo from May 1 to November 1, 1901, lays out the fairground's grand plan from above. The exposition aimed to showcase industry and trade across the Western Hemisphere, and the print was issued by the exposition company around 1900, ahead of the opening. Its significance grew sharply later that year, when President William McKinley was shot at the fairgrounds in September and died, and Theodore Roosevelt took the oath of office in Buffalo, tying the fair to his presidency.
