A small sixth-plate daguerreotype shows two sisters, Emily Everett Abbot (1829-1888) and Mary Susan Everett Abbot (1832-1871), taken around 1852. The case carries a handwritten label reading "Momma and Aunt Emmy," so the portrait was kept within the family, with one sister as the other's child's aunt. Its hallmark, OVILL MFG'C, identifies the Ovill Manufacturing Company, a maker of the cases that protected these mirror-like images. The portrait is part of the Henry L. Abbot family papers at the Library of Congress.
