The title *Sakana* and the probable Larchmont Yacht Club setting suggest a sailing yacht photographed on Long Island Sound, though the attribution rests on the style of the title and numbering rather than a firm caption. The exposure dates to June 19, 1897, when yacht clubs along the Sound drew wealthy sailors and spectators to regattas. The glass negative bears the marks "525" and "Lt." and no Detroit Publishing Company number, and it came to the collection as a 1949 gift to the State Historical Society of Colorado.
