Opera soprano Amelita Galli-Curci is the subject of this glass negative, which shows her with family members. Born in Milan, Galli-Curci became one of the best-known coloratura singers of the 1910s and 1920s, with a career built on concert tours and recordings in the United States. The Bain News Service, run by photographer George Grantham Bain in New York, supplied newspapers with pictures of public figures like her, and its negatives document the celebrities of the period. The record gives no date for this image, so the occasion is unknown.
