Printed as a halftone on page 18 of the 1911 Spanish-American edition of *Spalding's Official Base Ball Guide*, this picture focuses on the players of Havana rather than the American leagues that filled the English-language volumes. The guide was published in New York by the American Sports Publishing Company to bring baseball's rules, records, and news to Spanish-speaking readers, and Cuba, where the sport had taken root by the late 1800s, was a natural audience. The image is a useful record of how the game was presented to Cuban readers in the early twentieth century.
