The record does not name the campus, but a domed rotunda among university buildings in New York in 1909 most likely points to Columbia University's Morningside Heights site, where McKim, Mead & White laid out a classical plan in the 1890s. Low Library, with its large dome, anchored that design after the college moved uptown from Madison Avenue. Panoramic views like this one let viewers take in the whole arrangement of stone façades and open lawns at once, something a standard single-exposure photograph could not easily capture.
