A state Republican convention in Saratoga Springs, New York, is the subject of this glass negative, dated in the record to September 27, 1910. Saratoga Springs was a fashionable resort known for its mineral waters, and in the early 1900s its hotels and halls often hosted political gatherings, so the setting itself tells part of the story. The image comes from the George Grantham Bain Collection, made by the Bain News Service, a press photo agency that supplied pictures to newspapers. The title and date were recorded by that agency and have not been independently verified, so the caption is best read as a working identification.
