A red and gold pagoda at Moulmein, in what was then British Burma, is the subject of this 1889 photoprint by Prof. S.A. Hill. It appears in an album titled *From Sea to Sea*, a collection of photographs tied to Rudyard Kipling's travel writing of that year, when he journeyed through India, Burma, and beyond. Another copy of the same view, marked by Mrs. Hill, carries the caption "At Moulmein," which suggests the pictures were shared as souvenirs of the trip. The print offers a glimpse of Buddhist temple architecture in a port city on the Salween River during the colonial period.
