The label "Wright Machine" on this glass negative is unverified, so it most likely points to an aircraft or engine built under the Wright name rather than to a confirmed model. The Wright brothers' powered flight at Kitty Hawk in 1903 made that name synonymous with aviation, and by the late 1910s the Wright companies and their successors were building aircraft and engines during and just after the First World War. The glass also shows streaks and blemishes from the decay of its original coatings, which are part of the object's physical history.
