Attributed to Isoda Koryūsai, an artist of the Edo period whose working years the record gives as 1764 to 1788, this single drawing is catalogued under flowers and botanicals. Other headings in the record, which mention drawbridges in Tokyo and foreign visitors between 1850 and 1900, do not match that artist's career, and the listed date of 1750 also predates his known activity, so these details likely reflect later cataloguing. Koryūsai is best known for woodblock prints of beautiful women, and his output also included studies of plants and everyday subjects typical of eighteenth-century Japanese art.
