Theodore Roosevelt is shown addressing an audience during Georgia Day, one of the state observances at the 1907 Jamestown Exposition in Virginia. The fair marked the 300th anniversary of the English settlement at Jamestown in 1607, and it drew large crowds to the grounds near Norfolk. This stereograph was issued by the H.C. White Company, which produced many paired-image cards for home viewers. Looking through a stereo viewer, a reader could feel close to the speaker and the crowd at a moment when news photographs were still new to most people.
