The steeple section of the Old South Meeting House in Boston is the detail that sets this view apart from the many pictures of the building's street face. The brick meetinghouse was completed in 1729 for the Third Church of Christ, better known as the Old South congregation, and its tall tower was once one of the most recognizable marks on the Boston skyline. In 1773 the building held the mass meeting that led to the Boston Tea Party, and it later became part of the Boston National Historic Park. Landing 7 gives a close look at how the tower was framed and built above the roofline.
