Kalorama Road runs through one of Washington's hillside neighborhoods, northwest of Dupont Circle, where large houses went up for well-to-do residents in the early twentieth century. This glass negative, dated to about 1920 and tied to the address 2121 Kalorama Road, comes from the National Photo Company, a commercial firm that documented the capital's streets and buildings for years. The negatives were given to the Library of Congress in 1947 by Herbert A. French. Viewers should note the faint streaks and blemishes, which come from the natural deterioration of the original emulsion coatings on the glass.
