Will H. Bradley's Victor bicycle poster stands out among the bicycle advertising on this board for its flat, decorative style, which drew on the Art Nouveau look then spreading from Europe. Bradley produced this color lithograph in 1895 to promote bicycles made by the Overman Wheel Company, whose Victor brand was among the best-known American makers of the period. The bicycle craze of the mid-1890s brought many such posters into the streets, and Bradley's stylized figures and bold color areas show how commercial artists were turning advertising into a respected art form.
