An ambulance is the focus of this view from the Pan-American Exposition, the fair held in Buffalo, New York, in 1901 to showcase trade and industry across the Americas. Crowds that size meant visitors who fell ill or were hurt needed prompt care, and a vehicle like this one shows how that help was arranged on the grounds. The fair is also remembered as the site of President William McKinley's shooting in September 1901. The print is credited to C.D. Arnold, and its c1901 date comes from an old caption card that has not been independently verified.
