The title on this glass negative, "Westary[?] Bldg.," carries a question mark because the name came from notes the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve and was never confirmed, so the building's identity is still uncertain. The negative belongs to a group the company made in the years between about 1918 and 1928, when its Washington, D.C., staff photographed the city's buildings and streets for commercial sale. Herbert A. French gave it to the Library of Congress in 1947. Viewers should expect streaks and blemishes, which come from the natural deterioration of the original coatings on the glass.
