Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Marin County Civic Center in San Rafael in the late 1950s, and it was completed in 1969, after his death, by his associates. Its curving wings and central tower sit among the low hills north of the city, blending government offices into the landscape in a way that set it apart from most civic buildings of its era. This view, dated between 1974 and 1977, comes from the Seagram County Court House Archives, a set of photographs of courthouses and town halls from the 1970s. Its mix of public function and organic design made the complex one of the most discussed late works of Wright's career.
