Aiutateci a vincere!" ("Help us win!") is the headline of this color lithograph, which was aimed at ordinary savers as much as at soldiers. Printed in Milan by S.A.I.G.A. and Armanino, with the design credited to Barchi, it promoted war loans sold through the Banca Commerciale Italiana. Italy entered the First World War in May 1915, and its government relied heavily on bond subscriptions to pay for the campaign, so banks and printers worked to make lending money to the state feel like a patriotic duty. The soldiers pictured and the direct appeal show how the financial side of the war was presented to civilians, though the poster itself is undated and likely comes from somewhere between 1915 and 1918.
