This color poster for *Nightmare Alley* pairs Tyrone Power and Helen Walker, the two stars of the 1947 noir drama, which was directed by Edmund Goulding. Power plays a carnival worker who rises through the world of sideshows and mentalist acts, and the film is one of the darker studio releases of its era. It was adapted from William Lindsay Gresham's 1946 novel, and its carnival setting and its portrait of ambition and moral decline have made it a lasting reference point in film history. The poster is undated and carries no publisher's imprint, so it is typical of the promotional material produced for a film's release.
