Printed to mark the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's first Atlantic voyage, this piece carries the span "1492-1892" in its title. Copyright deposit records date it to August 1892, when American interest in the anniversary was building toward the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago the following year. The catalog credits the firm Girsch & Roehsler, but that attribution is marked as unverified, so the maker should be treated as provisional. The print is a useful reminder of how the anniversary was marketed and remembered in the early 1890s.
