Titled *The Battle at Bunker's Hill*, this color lithograph was drawn by Henry A. Thomas and published in Boston by C. Frank King around 1875, about a century after the fighting it depicts. The battle took place on June 17, 1775. Although it bears the name of Bunker Hill, most of the fighting unfolded on neighboring Breed's Hill in Charlestown, where colonial militia held their ground against repeated British assaults before running short of powder. Popular prints like this one helped shape how Americans remembered the early Revolution, and the monument later raised on Breed's Hill, completed in 1843, keeps the events visible on the ground.
