The record does not name the street, so this is a general city view whose exact location remains unconfirmed. It belongs to the National Photo Company Collection, the work of a Washington firm that sold views of the capital to residents and visitors in the early twentieth century. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the Library of Congress in 1947. Its safety film has aged, and the record notes streaks and blemishes from deterioration in the original coatings, which are visible signs of the negative's age.
