Chicago drew national party conventions for decades, largely because of its rail connections and large halls such as the Coliseum, which could seat thousands of delegates and spectators. The record gives no date for this view, and its title comes from caption information the Bain News Service wrote on the negative or its card, which has not been verified. The Bain agency sold pictures of such events to newspapers across the country, so images like this one show how a convention floor and its crowds appeared to the press in the early twentieth century.
