The Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce building is the subject here, a civic institution that served as a hub for the city's business leaders as Minneapolis grew rapidly around the turn of the twentieth century on the strength of flour milling and rail traffic. This glass negative came from the Detroit Publishing Company, which sent photographers across the country around 1905 to document cities, landmarks and scenery, and its catalog number is written on the plate. The negative passed through the State Historical Society of Colorado before entering the Library of Congress collection, a route that helps explain how such a large body of American views survived.
