Skiing takes center stage in this 1939 color poster, which sets it apart from the state's broader scenic promotions of the period. The New Hampshire State Planning and Development Commission issued it from Concord to encourage travel and tourism, and the catalog credits the design to an artist named Hechenberger. Winter recreation was growing quickly in the Northeast during the late 1930s, and states increasingly marketed their snow and hills to visitors. At 100 by 64 centimeters, the poster was sized for public display.
