Howard Jones, who coached the Yale varsity from 1908 through 1916, is shown here giving instruction to his players on a field. The Bain News Service made the glass negative in October 1909, during the football season. Jones later built his reputation at the University of Southern California, but in this picture he is still a Yale coach. The record's title places the scene in New York, though Yale's home field was in New Haven, Connecticut, so the location is worth checking against other sources.
