The Capitol Hill area of Washington, D.C., is shown from above in this print, with the Capitol building itself as the clear anchor of the view. Aerial photography was still new around 1920, so images like this were rare and captured a city that was growing quickly around the federal core. The neighborhoods that ring the Capitol were home to congressional staff, workers and residents whose daily lives unfolded in the streets below. The date and details come from an old caption card and have not been independently verified, so the exact vantage point and year are worth checking against other sources.
