This glass negative shows a lacrosse team from Oxford and Cambridge, the English universities, and its date of April 2, 1926 comes from a related negative in the collection. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C. firm active in the early twentieth century, made large numbers of pictures of people and events, though the titles on its negatives are unverified. Lacrosse was played at universities on both sides of the Atlantic, so the photograph offers a useful look at team dress and equipment of the period. The glass shows streaks and blemishes from deterioration of its original coating, which softens some details.
