The caption on this glass negative pairs the name Leuront with Senator Chas. P. Brau..., and dates the scene to February 5, 1923. The National Photo Company, based in Washington, D.C., made many such negatives for news and portrait work in the early twentieth century. Since the caption was recorded from the negative sleeve and remains unverified, the subjects' identities should be read with some caution. The glass also shows streaks and blemishes from natural deterioration of its original coating.
