Darwin D. Martin, a Buffalo executive with the Larkin Company, commissioned this house from Frank Lloyd Wright, and the lithograph shows the residence as plate XXVI of the 1910 Berlin portfolio *Ausgeführte Bauten und Entwürfe*. The Wasmuth firm's publication helped spread Wright's reputation in Europe, where architects studied his designs years before he was widely known abroad. The sheet's blind stamp and chop mark it as a print from that edition.
